Common Weight Loss Challenges

Change your perspective by changing your plate size.  Research has shown that people tend to eat less when using smaller plates.  Portion control is actually one of the biggest challenges for most people after having bariatric weight loss in Hinsdale.

Clean up your diet. Eat whole food. It may seem obvious, but food in its most natural form is much better for you than anything processed and refined. Avoid white flour and sugar, replacing it with whole grains and natural sweeteners, such as honey or maple syrup. Stay away from foods laden with pesticides or those that have been genetically modified. These can clog your liver, making it more difficult to rid your body of toxins, including excess fat.

Get moving.  Aim for 30 minutes of activity every day. Try taking the stairs instead of the elevator. Park your car farther away from the door to log some extra walking.  Add interval training and resistance training to your workout for faster results. Complete at least one exercise for your core every day. Your core includes the muscles of your abdominals, back, and hips.

Get plenty of sleep. Inadequate sleep disrupts hormone production. When the body suffers from a lack of sleep, it produces excess Cortisol, which leads to fat storage around the midsection.  Leptin levels drop, as does the body’s fat-burning ability. Lack of sleep also induces stress, which can alter hormones as well.
