An extern  (sometimes called an intern by job classification) is a student actively enrolled with an affiliated school, college, or university that during summer or off-school time, works for TRHS under the direct supervision of a designated TRHS employee in a specific job role. The extern role involves an agreement between the student and TRHS for a designated time period and provides the student with additional supervised experience beyond the classroom setting.   An agreement between TRHS and the student’s school, college or university may be required.  Intern/Externship does not include employee benefits nor does it include independent scheduling for patient care. Stipend  pay is at the discretion of the TRHS department accepting the intern/extern.  Availability of intern/extern positions is at the discretion of the organization and specific department area.
