Michael L. Purvis, FACHE
Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Cook Medical Center
Michael Purvis has served as CEO of Cook Medical Center since 2010. He provides administrative oversight for all aspects of Cook Medical Center’s operations, including acute care, nursing home, outpatient and support services.
Located in Adel, Georgia, Cook Medical Center is a 60-bed hospital which includes the Sylvia Barr Center, a 12-bed geriatric psychiatric unit. Cook Medical Center also has a 95-bed nursing home, Cook Senior Living Center, and two hospital-owned primary care clinics.
Formerly Memorial Hospital of Adel, Cook Medical Center became a part of Tift Regional Health System in 2012, which includes Tift Regional Medical Center (TRMC) and the TRMC West Campus in Tifton, Georgia and Tift Regional Physician Group, with clinic locations throughout South Central Georgia. Mr. Purvis is a member of the Tift Regional Health System Administrative Staff.
Prior to his current role, Mr. Purvis served as Hospital Administrator at Brooks County Hospital in Quitman, Georgia. He earned a master’s degree in public administration and a bachelor’s degree in adult and continuing education and teaching from Valdosta State University. Mr. Purvis also holds a diploma in radiologic technology from Moultrie Technical College, having started his career as a medical imaging technician at Memorial Hospital of Adel and later becoming Director of Radiology before pursuing a path in hospital administration.
Mr. Purvis is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE) and is actively involved with many professional associations, including the Georgia Rural Health Association, Georgia Hospital Association, the Georgia Alliance of Community Hospitals and more.
