TRMC has the most experienced da Vinci surgeon south of Atlanta with Nathan Mordel, M.D. With more cases under his belt than any other da Vinci surgeon in our region, Dr. Mordel is board-certified OB/GYN specialist who serves as a proctor for other surgeons from around the state and country.
A member of the TRMC Medical Staff, Dr. Nathan Mordel practices with Tifton Woman's Center (TWC) and Atlanta Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgical Center (AMIGS). Dr. Mordel received his medical training at Hadassah Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Israel, graduating with a degree in Obstetrics and Gynecology. After coming to the United States, he completed a residency in Gynecology and Obstetrics and a fellowship in advanced pelvic surgery at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta.
Dr. Mordel has been practicing with Tifton Woman's Center in Tifton since July of 1998. In July of 2002, he came back to Atlanta part-time, started AMIGS, and joined the Piedmont Hospital Staff. He is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, serves as Clinical Assistant Professor of Gynecology and Obstetrics at Emory University Medical School and the Medical College of Georgia. He was recognized by the 2009-10 Emory Medical Students for providing outstanding learning experiences. He is an Active Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a member of the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists.
Dr. Mordel specializes in advanced laparoscopy and pelvic surgery, including urogynecological disorders, gynecological tumors, pelvic relaxation, and endometriosis. He has performed over 1500 Laparoscopic Hysterectomies for uteri up to 3000 grams (7 pounds), without any bowel or ureteral injuries. His conversion rate is less than 0.2%. He has also performed over 1000 Tension Free Vaginal Tape Placement procedures, and over 300 Laparoscopic Sacralcolpopexy procedures.
