Intense Hands-On Therapy
Our philosophy of care is centered on decreasing pain, improving motion, building strength and endurance, and restoring the patient’s quality of life. By providing a variety of manual therapy techniques, we are able to better address muscular and joint restrictions that, otherwise, could not be identified. Massage, myofascial release and spinal mobilization / manipulation are various techniques employed to restore function and decrease pain.

The Spine Therapy Center welcomes all physicians from any discipline of medicine to refer their patients for evaluation and treatment. Most patients suffering from neck or back pain may never see a surgeon for their condition, and may seek medical attention from a variety of physicians within the medical team. We would encourage all physicians to take advantage of this specialty center of physical therapy care in order to provide their patients the optimal in spinal therapy care.
The Spine Therapy Center desires to assist physicians in the management of their patients and serve as a consultant if the physician would like more information on how physical therapy can aid their patients in a full recovery. If you are a patient, you can request information from your physician on how physical therapy could help you, and you can recommend a referral to the Spine Therapy Center. All patients have the choice of their physical therapy provider.
About the Director
Melanie K. Peavy, MPT, RN, BSN is a native of Tifton with advanced training and extensive experience in spinal physical therapy. Melanie received her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Valdosta State University and went on to complete her Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences. She attended a physical therapy program under the direction of Dr. Stanley Paris, an international expert in the field of spinal physical therapy. Since graduation, she has worked as an outpatient physical therapist treating a variety of patient conditions with a special interest in spine care and general orthopedics. She has received two additional years of post graduate education in the specialized evaluation and treatment of the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine towards her Doctorate of Physical Therapy.
