Symposium on addiction to be held on Feb. 24 in Tifton

The ACE RCO Symposium of Tiftarea will be held on Saturday, Feb. 24, 10 am – 2 pm, at the Southern Regional Technical College in Tifton. Tift Regional Health System supports this free community event designed to serve individuals and families suffering from addiction; to celebrate recovery stories and publicize success; and, reduce the stigma associated with addiction.

Spearheaded by Judge Herbert Benson with the State Court of Tift County, ACE (which stands for Advocate. Celebrate. Educate.) is community movement to establish a RCO in Tifton . RCO stands for Recovery Community Organization. These organizations are developed at the local level to address the needs of people in or seeking recovery from addiction. The Georgia Council on Substance Abuse (GCSA) and Georgia Mental Health Consumer Network (GMHCN) have been at the forefront in training and supporting local recovery peer leadership. RCOs driven and supported by these local leaders are emerging across Georgia.
