NICE Club for Seniors to host seminar on fall prevention
Tift Regional's NICE Club for Seniors will be holding a free seminar titled "Lifestyle Choices to Prevent Falls" on Wednesday, Sept. 11, 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm, at the Tift Regional Community Events Center. Orthopedist James Scott, MD with Georgia Sports Medicine will be the featured speaker.

There is a pattern to falls among seniors: first comes the fear of falling, then the injury, followed by hospitalization, decreased independence and mobility and, often, relocation to a nursing or residential facility. A fall can be a major life-changing event that robs a senior of his or her independence. Fortunately, many falls can be prevented with healthy lifestyle choices and safety modifications.

Join board-certified orthopedist Dr. James Scott as he discusses common fall injuries such as shoulder and forearm fractures, spine fractures, pelvic and hip fractures along with head injuries. He’ll provide helpful tips in reducing the risks for falls and will take questions from the audience.

This free event includes a complimentary lunch. Seating is limited and registration is required. Register in the Calendar of Events section or call 229-353-6316. The NICE Club is Tift Regional's program for seniors age 55 and older.

The Tift Regional Community Events Center is located in Tifton at 1657 S. Carpenter Road, adjoining the Tiftarea YMCA.
