Nanci Bowen Golf Tournament winners announced; event raises more than $35,000

The annual Nanci Bowen Charity Event was held at the Spring Hill Country Club in Tifton on May 15.   This golf tournament, benefiting the special needs of Tift Regional Health System (TRHS) hospice and cancer patients, is a four-man scramble. 

The winning team was sponsored by Valdosta Electric, pictured are Jeremy Williams (L) and Josh Burk (R).  Team members not pictured are Eric Shelton and Thad Mitchell.  The Valdosta Electric team had a score of 52 and each team members won a two nights’ stay and round of golf at The King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort in St. Simons Island.

The second place team was sponsored by Valdosta Mechanical, players were Jimbo Scruggs, Bryan Stewart, Chris Baker and Mike Davis, they had a score of 53.  The third place team was sponsored by United Obstetrics and Gynecology; players were Chad Branch, Brian Hand, Terry Marshall and Mark Cox, they had a score of 53.8.

The tournament raised over $35,000 that will go directly to help patients of Hospice of Tift Area and the TRMC Anita Stewart Oncology Center.  The funds help patients with basic needs such as food, clothing and utilities as well as cost of medicine, wheelchair ramps, needed medical equipment and much more.
