Firehouse Subs donates life-saving heart defibrillators to the TRMC Foundation

The Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation donated 17 automated external (AEDs) valued at $19,734 to the Tift Regional Medical Center (TRMC) Foundation on Oct. 3 in Tifton.  The awarded AEDs will replace the TRMC Foundation’s older equipment which has been provided to local responders and public safety organizations as part of the foundation’s Heart Safe Community initiative.   Representatives from the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, Tift Regional Medical Center Foundation, Tift Regional Health System and Tifton Fire and Rescue were on hand for the event.  “An AED provides life-saving assistance if an individual goes into cardiac arrest,” said cardiologist Dr. William Hancock, Chairman of the TRMC Foundation.  “Use of an AED within three-to-five minutes of a victim’s heart stopping improves odds of survival by nearly 70 percent.  We thank the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation for this generous donation and their commitment to public health and safety.”
