Rheumatologist Omar Khan, D.O. with Tift Regional Health System provided a free community seminar on Lupus at the Summer Palace banquet facility in Sylvester on Feb. 22. With over 200,000 cases reported each year in the U.S., Lupus is an inflammatory disease caused when the immune system attacks its own tissues. Symptoms vary but can include fatigue, joint pain, rash, and fever. These can periodically get worse (flare-up) and then improve. Dr. Khan practices with the Arthritis and Osteoporosis Center of South Georgia in Tifton with fellow rheumatologist Dr. James Mossell. Talk to your provider about a referral or call 229-391-3320.
